Public Involvement

Public involvement and community outreach are integral components of federal, state, and local projects, no matter how large or small, and may extend throughout a project’s life cycle. It is important for project owners to collaborate and build trust with the public and key stakeholders, to not only make them aware of impacts to their communities, but also to make project information easily accessible, gather valued input, and involve them in the decision making process so their feedback can be incorporated. Engaging with stakeholders at the earliest phases of a project is imperative to prevent delays to the schedule and milestones.

At JMT, our Public Involvement team works closely with our technical staff to offer a holistic approach to public involvement and community outreach.  This approach is inclusive and strives to achieve public and stakeholder support and, ultimately, consensus on our clients’ projects.

We develop engagement strategies and methodologies using traditional and non-traditional techniques, and we offer stakeholder identification and facilitation/mediation among opposing groups to help reach consensus. Our in-house team of public involvement and communications specialists, graphic designers, and technology staff provides:

  • development of communication plans
  • project branding
  • website and social media development and management
  • design and production of print materials, interactive and 3D mapping and renderings
  • video production
  • event and meeting planning and facilitation
  • application development
  • database creation/maintenance and record tracking

We believe an informed and involved public becomes a stronger partner for our clients, and this partnership leads to the successful and timely completion of a project.
